SphereXP - Turn your desktop into 3d

3D user interface on the desktop is one of the new cool things comming up. Sun Microsystems are working on a new 3-dimensional user interface for their Java Desktop that they believe will change the way we interact with computers.

On Windows XP I found a few project that was free to download and use. The first one and the one I tried out was SphereXP. This is a promising project started as a student project by Dušan Hamar. Another solution I came over was 3DTop.

PHP 5 released!

Back from holiday with my girlfriend and parents and what do I see? The final version of PHP 5 was released yesterday :-) I've already played around a bit with the new object model that is introduced in PHP 5 and it looks good. SimpleXML and bundled support for SQLite are also some of the coolest features. But most of all I like the brand new built-in SOAP extension since I've been working against WebServices lately.

I wrote a little article at php.no (in norwegian) about 10 months ago about the new stuff introduced in PHP 5 (at that time in beta stage). You can read the article here.

Time to install the stable version on your webserver... Way to go PHP team!

Something you dislike in PHP 5? Feel free to comment this post ;-)

Linux from now on

Yesterday I upgraded to Fedora Core 2 and from now on I won't run anything but Linux on my laptop. Fedora seems stable and nice, and with Matthias Saou ported version of Debian's Advanced Package Tool (APT) to Fedora (at freshrpms.net) and the easy to use frontend synaptic it's like a dream to update my system. If you wonder what Fedora looks like you can take a look at my desktop here.
