Discussing development platforms

I found an interview of Jason Fried (president of 37signals who's behind Basecamp). I'd like to quote him on a good point he has when it comes to platforms, development environment and language discussions:

"It's all a matter of trust. If you don't trust your developer to choose the right environment, then how can you trust him to build the best application?"

As a software developer it's quite good to see this statement from a manager. The whole interview can be found here.

Statement about Perl

A good friend of mine sent me this statement:

"[Perl] combines all the worst aspects of C and Lisp: a billion different sublanguages in one monolithic executable. It combines the power of C with the readability of PostScript." — Jamie Zawinski

I agree :)
